It has a wood-screw thread on one end and a machine thread on the other. The wood thread goes into the timber rafter or purlin through the roof sheet; the machine thread takes the rail bracket, secured with nuts. Paired with an EPDM bonded washer, it seals the roof at the same time. See the Solar Mounting Systems catalogue
Solar structures are usually designed for 25 years or more, so the finish has to match the site. Zinc-flake coated or hot-dip galvanised fasteners suit most inland plants; SS 316 is the safer choice for coastal, floating or high-humidity sites. Ask us for salt-spray results against your specification. See Quality & Compliance
Wind vibration and daily heating and cooling work joints loose over time. Tighten every joint to the torque the structure designer specifies, and use flange nuts or locking washers where the design calls for them — then re-check torque at the first maintenance visit.
