A U.S. drawing marked 3/8-16 UNC is not an invitation to substitute an M10 bolt. The nominal diameters may appear close, but thread geometry and pitch differ. When American buyers enquire about inch-threaded anchors or special bolts, clear callouts are essential before Canco evaluates the manufacturing route.
Canco's manufacturing information describes capability across metric, UNC, UNF and other thread forms. That general capability does not mean every thread size and finish is stocked or feasible on the same commercial terms.
State the complete thread designation
For example, a U.S. callout such as 3/8-16 UNC specifies a nominal 3/8-inch diameter and 16 threads per inch in the Unified Coarse series. A mating threaded hole, nut or anchor component must be evaluated to the same specified system and fit requirements.
A complete fastener RFQ may need nominal diameter, pitch or TPI, thread series, class of fit, handedness, thread length and relevant external or internal thread dimensions. State which components are intended to assemble together.
Check the whole component, not just the thread
For an anchor bolt, a compatible thread does not guarantee correct product performance. Shank diameter, effective length, head or nut geometry, washer requirements, sleeve geometry and installation conditions may also control suitability. A change to thread size can alter how the anchor interfaces with the equipment being fixed.
For drawing-based parts, use one measurement system clearly and list any intentional exceptions. Conversions should be checked instead of rounded casually.
Describe coating and post-finish gauging
Plating changes dimensions. In some applications, coatings affect mating thread allowance and gauge acceptance, especially when the coating is thick. Specify which finish is required and the applicable thread acceptance criteria after finishing.
Do not assume a visually shiny part will pass the correct ring gauge. A reliable sample plan records thread designation and inspection method, not only photographs.
How Canco can quote an inch-based request
Send Canco the thread callout, complete dimensional drawing, mating-component details, material and property grade, coating specification, purchase quantity and intended U.S. market. Indicate whether the item is a standard replacement part or an approved OEM design. Canco can then review feasibility, tooling and inspection needs.
If the fastener forms part of a safety-critical installation, seek engineering approval against the intended product and application.

Quick buyer questions
Is M10 interchangeable with 3/8-16 UNC? No, the thread systems are different.
Can plating change thread fit? Yes; specify the applicable post-finish requirements.
Should both bolt and nut be quoted? If they need to mate, quoting the assembly together can reduce ambiguity.
